Brad and I spent April 13-17, 2011, birding in the Boca Raton-Delray Beach areas in Florida. We photographed this Great Egret at Green Cay Wetlands in Boynton Beach. During the height of breeding season, the lores of this species are green. It was an overcast morning with an intermittent light mist and temperatures in the mid-80's. This wetlands area is another "must" birding stop for us whenever we are in the area. It may not offer the birding to be had at Wakodahatchee or Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, but it is worth a look.
